Rose of durham, OSHAWA

Each year, Rose of Durham serves more than 350 young parents from across the Durham Region. Rose of Durham believes that when parents are at their best, their children will be raised in an environment where they can develop positive mental health. We are seeking volunteers to serve in a number of roles at “the Rose.”

Child Minding | Thursdays | 1:15-3:15pm or 4:30-6:00pm

While parents participate in life changing classes and programs, supervise, play and socialize with their children.


Lunch Coordinator | Mondays and/or Wednesdays | 11:00am-1:00pm

Plan, prepare, and serve the lunch that Rose of Durham provides to students of their teen mom high school completion program. Rose of Durham has a full kitchen onsite.


Donation Room Coordinator | Tuesdays | 9:00am-1:00pm

Accept and sort Rose of Durham’s weekly food order from the local food bank, Feed the Need, as well as baby clothing and other items given by members of the community.

Several times a year, our team of dedicated volunteers spends a Saturday evening in Toronto serving a full-course meals to the under resourced in Regent Park.

Senior’s Hymn Sing and Social, Oshawa

We’re building a team of volunteers to sing and socialize with the seniors at Chartwell Retirement Residence in Oshawa on a regular basis. No musical abilities necessary, just a friendly smile, servant heart, and listening ear.

First Light Foundation of Hope, Oshawa

This new organization is seeking to demonstrate the love of Christ to the under resourced living within the downtown Oshawa core through service. Located at 253 Simcoe St. South, First Light Foundation of Hope is in need of volunteers to serve on weekdays between the hours of 5:30am-8:30am and 7:00pm-10:00pm as they open their doors to those who need shelter from the cold. The organization also has volunteer openings available for roles outside of these two shifts.
