Christmas Initiatives

Here’s a helpful way you can include the under resourced in your Christmas budget this year!

WOW christmas party

Your gift will help throw a Christmas part for the children Working for Orphans and Widows (WOW) supports in Bwacha, Zambia. Goal: 100 children x $25=$2500

Wow: Mother Care in bwacha, zambia

Working for Orphans and Widows (WOW) and King Street go way back. Each year we raise money to help WOW provide medical and educational support to young mothers in Zambia. Your generous gift will help advance WOWs mission to serve orphans and widows. Goal: 8 moms + 16 children x $260=$2,080

Christmas Stockings

For a number of years, we have been partnering with Mary Street Community School in Oshawa through our backpack drive and thanksgiving in a box initiatives to bless families within downtown Oshawa. With your support, this Christmas we are sending stockings filled with treats to each of the school’s 164 students. Goal: $1900

Angel Tree

Angel Tree Christmas, is a program of Prison Fellowship Canada that partners with local church communities to reach out to the children of prisoners and their families with the love of Jesus. Children of prisoners are often forgotten and silent victims of crime. Children experience feelings of abandonment, loneliness and shame from having a mom or dad in prison. Through your donation, you can help us in our sponsorship of Christmas gifts for 30 children impacted by the criminal justice system. Goal: 30 children x $25=$750

rose of durham Christmas Party

Rose of Durham Young Parent Support Services believes that when parents are at their best, children have a better opportunity to develop positive mental health. Each year King Street helps Rose of Durham throw a Christmas Party of the parents and children they support. Your donations will provide food, drinks, and gifts for these young parents. Goal: $500

Village of Hope: Malawi

Our partnership will assist the Waltons in providing quality education, reliable healthcare, nutritious meals, and Christ centred discipleship to the children and families Village of Hope serves in a community of approximately 50,000 people. Goal: $1000

Daughter Project

Since June 2015, Daughter Project (DP) Canada has been actively engaged in the prevention of Human Trafficking within Ontario through education and girls empowerment. Now, DP Canada is entering the world of intervention through the construction of their first shelter for victims of human trafficking that will be located in Peterborough. With less than twenty shelters across the province and more than 3,300 girls trafficked across the province, the need is great. Goal: $750

Joy House

Sarah’s Covenant Home provides care for 138 children across 7 foster homes. Joy Home is one of these homes. Joy Home is a place where dozens of young girls receive love, education, medical treatment and discover the love of Jesus. Each of these girls have experienced deep trauma and great loss that comes with being abandoned by their birth parents. Your support helps Joy Home provide for these girls basic needs as they prepare for adoption into their forever family. Goal: $1500

Santa Claus Parade Whitby

Help us wish the Durham Region a Merry Christmas! Our goal is to give away 1000 cups of hot chocolate to parade attendees (and participants) at the Whitby Santa Claus Parade on Saturday, December 1st. Your donations will help us fund this community give back. Goal: $750

Total goal: $12,000
