Missions' News from around the World
Wednesday… Rain Storm
Greetings from the North West Corner of our Hostel in Zvolen, Slovakia.
Unfortunately tonight I am not enjoying the comfort of our local coffee shop and experiencing the Slovakian culture. Instead, I am leaning up against the wall trying to get enough reception for my wireless Internet to send this update to you. It is a little bit uncomfortable but it will have to do in order to make today’s update work.
Today was an interesting but good day. We were planning on taking a bus with the Gypsy children to a nearby horse ranch and do our camp there while enjoying the large fields and great mountain view. But instead, due to the NONE STOP rain, we were forced to stay inside at the local community centre and do our camp there. Fortunately, our team is very flexible which we have learned is a good attribute to have while on a mission’s trip and made it a great day for the Gypsy kids. After teaching them about Daniel and the Lions Den, how to make paper plate Lion’s mask, and watching them try on our Canadian clothes for a fashion show, we learned that they have a new favourite game in Slovakia… Dodgeball. At one point, the kids broke out in a Slovakian chant which was so loud you could feel your ear drums about to pop. I went over to the interpreter to ask him what they were chanting. He said, “They want to play that… Dodge the Ball game.“ So we lined up and started a mass game of Dodgeball. It was quite entertaining and extremely fun, especially for the other translators!
It is very obvious that our team is having an impact on these children. Watching the enthusiastic reactions they make when our team engages with them, shows me that they are experiencing the love of Christ from us, something that a lot of these kids don’t necessarily experience. On Friday we are planning on telling the Jesus story and looking forward for a time to pray and bless the kids. I know that will be very meaningful to them. Our team is sad because we only have one day left with these kids. Tomorrow, the Gypsy kids from our camp are visiting some tourism attractions and we will not have the opportunity to see them. Instead of doing our camp, we are splitting up into 3 groups and going with different pastors to do some practical ministry. Please pray that our team would do well tomorrow and that we would be an encouragement to the Pastors and people that we ministry to and with. We have already made some great friends here in Slovakia with these local Pastors. But we are determined to bless and encourage them as much as possible until our trip ends and we return to Canada.
Thank you again for your prayers
Love and peace,
Pastor Josh & Team

Missions Philosophy
Our philosophy of missions here at King Street Church is based on the biblical model found in Acts 1:8. “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
