Missions' News from around the World
Tuesday…Mixed Emotions
Greetings again from the Charisma Cafe in Zvolen, Slovakia. Well, again I find myself with some members of our team at this downtown coffee shop, this time enjoying a forest berry smoothie and reflecting on today's events. What an AMAZING day!!! As we walked into the community centre this morning it was flattering to have the Gypsy children run up to each of us calling out our name and giving us big high fives. Yesterday, I took some time to teach some boys our Youth handshake so I was rather impressed when they greeted me by performing that special handshake. It was awesome!!! We began our day by sitting with the children as the Slovakian Police came and did a presentation. It was a lot of fun hearing the stories and being selected to to wear the 60 lb bullet-proof vest and hold a small automatic gun. After the police left we began our Camp program. We taught them about Jonah and the Whale, Canadian Sports, we made paper bag puppets, shot them with water guns, and chased them around with pool noodles. It was quite tiring if you can imagine but it was worth every ounce of energy. These gypsy children come from a local Orphanage and we feel extremely honored and grateful to have the privilege to serve them. Please pray that these children would experience the love of Christ as we befriend and serve them. We also sadly said goodbye to our good friend Pastor Otto who has served as our interpreter thus far on our journey. He is traveling back to Lucenec and returning to his wife and young daughter as he prepares for 3 of our team members to minister in his church this up coming Sunday. He has become a close friend of mine in the few days that I have known him and I will cherish my time with him. Last Sunday I brought greetings from Canada and King Street Church to his small congregation and one of the elderly ladies in his church instructed me to bring greetings to you from their church in Lucenec. Please remember Pastor Otto and his church in your prayers this week. This trip is having an incredible impact on all of us but I am especially excited and looking forward to see how God uses this experience to bring even more spiritual maturity to each team member. Seeing these team members serve God gets me excited to think of the impact they can have in Canada when they return. I am VERY proud of this team. Thank you for your prayers. They are felt! Missions Philosophy
Our philosophy of missions here at King Street Church is based on the biblical model found in Acts 1:8. “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
