Thursday… A Serve Day
Greetings from our lively Hostel in Zvolen, Slovakia.
Today was an excellent day of practical ministry for our team. We divided into 3 groups and went to 3 different cities. One of the groups went to Lucenec, Slovakia with Pastor Otto and helped him transport some Bibles and they also visited a small orphanage with 8 kids. They played games with them and left a couple of soccer balls that were given to us by Pastor Katherina and the VBS program. I am excited to give the rest of the soccer balls from VBS away tomorrow at the conclusion of our Gypsy camp. I know our group of 3 in Lucenec had a great day of serving with Pastor Otto. Another team of 3 people stayed in Zvolen, Slovakia with Pastor Cyril. They traveled to a local retirement residence and served this community by gardening and cutting grass. From what I hear, it was recieved incredibly well and helped Pastor Cyril make connections with this sometimes neglected group of people. Finally, a team of 7 traveled to Banska Bystrica, Slovakia with Pastor Rene and served inside his church. We spent the day clearing out this massive room of random stuff, building some shelves, organizing all the random stuff, and placing it back in a neat and fashionable order. We even found a bunch of clothes that needed to be organized and had lots of fun trying it on as we had our own little fashion show in this small downtown church. It was definitely fun!!! I know Pastor Rene felt very blessed and relieved that we took this big task off his shoulders. Overall, it was a really good day. Pastor Cyril shared with me privately at dinner that he was very impressed with the work ethic, attitudes, and maturity that our team had put forth today and thus far in the week and that this whole week was helping to strengthen his connections with the people in Zvolen. I was excited to know that our involvement in Slovakia would have a lasting effect with the local church.
The team is doing well! We are having so much fun and it is exciting to see our team at work serving. Please pray for us as a mild flu has hit multiple people on our team. We are all still functioning well but many of us have running noises and a few of us (like myself) have a sore throat which makes it annoying when trying to serve at full capacity. I know the weekend will be an important time for us as we are ministering in 2 churches and will need to be feeling well so that we can serve with excellence. So please pray for our team in that area.
Love and peace,
Pastor Josh & Team

Missions Philosophy
Our philosophy of missions here at King Street Church is based on the biblical model found in Acts 1:8. “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
