Missions' News from around the World

Thursday - Highlights

Today, I was approached by one of our team members and asked “What has been your favourite highlight so far on this trip?” As I paused for a moment to consider all the great memories already experienced, I found myself landing with this response, “I think just being with the team has been my favourite part.” As that person smiled and said “Me too”, I realized once again how important being a part of a relational community is.

Over the last week, our team has created so many wonderful memories together that we will remember for the rest of our lives. When all is over, each one of us will have story upon story to share with love ones and friends. But I find it interesting that when asked about highlights, everyone on my team agreed that just being together was one of the best parts.

Why is that?

Is it because we’re all friends? Perhaps… But I think it’s because we’ve stepped in line with how God created us to be – a relational being. This week, our team has move beyond the surface level. We’ve spent time with each other, opened and studied scripture with one another, and even at times shared what’s really going on inside of our hearts. It’s been a wonderful and meaningful week of being together.

Looking at this week, I truly believe that when we live as the relational beings God created us to be, we step into a life that brings peace, understanding, support, and compassion.

My prayer for King Street is that we would continue to be a community that enjoys being with one another and that we would move beyond the surface level to a place of being known, loved, and cared for.

Missions Philosophy

Our philosophy of missions here at King Street Church is based on the biblical model found in Acts 1:8. “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.â€
